In our Psychiatry Department, as in all our other units, our aim is not to shut down/exclude people whose social functioning is impaired, but to ensure that people who are ill are cured as soon as possible and become healthy and functional individuals.

Although psychiatry is called "mental medicine" in Turkish, it deals only with the brain. All treatment methods, including psychotherapy, work on the brain (and only on the brain).

SYMPTOMS OF PSYCHIATRIC PATIENTS

They occur in various forms as a result of perception disorders, interpretation disorders and behavioural disorders. From various auditory and visual hallucinations to megalomanic delusions about themselves or thoughts of worthlessness and inadequacy, repetitive thoughts and repetitive behaviours that they cannot prevent, a wide range of behaviour and thought disorders related to different diseases occur.

DIAGNOSTIC CRITERIA IN PSYCHIATRY

According to the severity and duration of the symptoms, impairments in the daily functionality of the individual are evaluated and diagnosed by differentiating them from other medical conditions.

The diseases in the field of interest of psychiatry include the process that continues from birth to death. All of the diseases listed below are diseases that psychiatry is interested in and can offer successful treatments in many of them.

Psychiatry aims to prevent and treat diseases caused by various genetic, environmental, social and organic reasons that lead to disorders in human perception, thought and behaviour, and to ensure that the individual can carry out social functioning in a healthy way.
